This short movie, The Third & the Seventh, by Alex Roman is dated back to 2009 but this year it was presented at the Prix Ars Electronica where it received an Award of Distinction in the category of Computer Animation/Film/VFX. In my opinion this short movie was the most intriguing entry in this category, not only for the visuals but especially for the poetic issues it involves. Alex Roman is a Spanish movie maker, and in his website states that “The Third & The Seventh is A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view, where main subjects are already-built spaces.” A visual fusion, totally made in computer animation, between the third (architecture) and the seventh art (cinema), which gives the title to the work. Alex Roman (his real name is Jorge Seva) started studying traditional paintings at academies and then discovered the computer graphics. Now he is working in the fields of architectural visualization, commercials and film direction.
